The Protestant St. Mary's Church is the oldest of the three large city churches in the Hanseatic city of Greifswald

A beautiful gem in the Hanseatic city. The greenhouses are all interconnected and house some botanical treasures. The outdoor area is beautifully maintained and invites you to take a short stroll. A visit is definitely worth it! 🌿

In 1280, St. Jacobi Church, dedicated to the patron saint of fishermen, was first mentioned by name. The brick church consists of a three-aisled hall and the somewhat narrower square west tower. The originally higher tower had a half-timbered top until a fire in 1955, which was not restored when the tower roof was reconstructed.

St. Jacobi is the third of Greifswald's three Gothic brick churches. It was built in the 13th century when a new town was being built. St. Jacobi's Church was particularly connected with the university: the students of the arts faculty had to attend the services and from 1889 to 1989 the academic services took place here.

The small town of Griebenow between Greifswald and Grimmen surprises with a castle, a pretty church and seems to be out of time.

I especially liked the window in the choir. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough sun shining through the glass that day.

Only suitable for rowing boats. The bridge is no longer suitable for two-lane vehicles.
