The Geislede plunges about seven meters down the red sandstone cliffs in the middle of Heiligenstadt. Then it flows through Heinrich Heine Park and flows into the Leine. A romantic piece of nature in the middle of the city.
What a view! The information board showing the towns and mountains in the region is also nice. The steep climb on the western flank is a sporting challenge. 👍😎
The chapel was erected in 1739 to commemorate the great fire in Heiligenstadt, since much of the forest was needed to rebuild the city. It is hidden in the forest.
