The Natura Trail leads through the "Southern Priwall" nature reserve. Priwall lies directly at the mouth of the Trave River into the Baltic Sea, as the remnant of a spit formed from deposits of fine sand and gravel transported here from the steep banks of Lübeck Bay by sea currents. The southern part of Priwall, together with a shallow water area approximately 100 meters wide in the Pötenitz Bay, forms the 149-hectare nature reserve. The eastern part of the area is characterized by dry grasslands, followed by sparse grassy areas with rare species, which are later overgrown by typical Baltic Sea sea buckthorn bushes. These dry habitats were created by traditional land management practices and can only be preserved today as habitats for light- and heat-loving plants and animals through targeted conservation measures. If you walk around the Priwall, you will inevitably come across here. The boardwalk makes a lot of sense, as the water is occasionally very high here. Today the water level was so high that at the end of the jetty there was no progress.
