The man from Bernuthsfeld is a bog body dating from the late 7th or early 8th century that was found in 1907 in the Hogehahn moor near Tannenhausen in the Aurich district. A special feature of this archaeological find is the man's extraordinarily well-preserved woollen clothing.

This bog body probably dates from the 7th/8th Century. She is affectionately called Bernie. A special feature of Bernie is the very well-preserved woolen clothing, a colorful tunic with many patches wrapped in a large cape. Around his legs he wore the leg wraps, also known as gaiters, which were typical for this time. In addition to numerous physical influences such as healed wounds, but also sinus infections, etc., Bernie probably died of cancer. It is unclear why this corpse was not buried in a burial ground or cemetery, as is usually the case, but in the moor.
