The approximately 62-hectare "Heidkupplungmoor and surroundings" has been a nature reserve since 1995. The area is characterized by a high diversity of biotopes typical of the natural area and is home to numerous, sometimes rare animal and plant species. The Heidkupplungmoor is an intermediate moor that is still open in the center and was mined using the manual peat cutting method up until the 1950s. After rewetting in the 1990s, the moor vegetation began to regenerate. The structurally rich environment consists of low moorland, species-rich wet grassland, extensive lean grassland and bushy fallow / perennial corridors. Today I finally managed to find the hidden stone to the former castle complex👍

Remains of the medieval count castle Arnesfelde. There is nothing left of the walls. But the layout of the old castle is understandable through the castle hill and ramparts.

Relaxed, easy-to-drive paths through a beautiful nature reserve. You can park at the Volksdorf cemetery or at the Buckhorn subway or take public transport to the Heidkoppelmoor. Feasible for all bicycles and walkers.
