Just a stone's throw from Ahrensburg is the Bredenbeker Pond. It is a 35 hectare natural lake divided into two parts with a famous resident. This is where Maya the Bee lives with all her friends. Waldemar Bonsels, author of the story "Maya the Bee and her Adventures", spent a large part of his childhood at the Bredenbeker Pond and was inspired to write his book by the many frogs, grasshoppers, spiders and of course bees.
The lake is ideal for swimming due to its excellent water quality.
There is a beautiful beach area for the whole family, but also small reed bays with untouched nature. Nudists can also swim and enjoy the sun on parts of the island.
