The Wellenburger Allee is an impressive linden tree avenue in the south of Augsburg. It stretches over two kilometers from the Wertach Bridge in the Göggingen district to Wellenburg Castle. With over 350 winter linden trees, it forms a striking visual axis and underlines the historical significance of the castle. The first trees were planted in 1840, more followed between 1880 and 1920. The avenue has been a nature reserve since 1975. A storm in June 2013 damaged numerous trees, but they were replanted. Today, the Wellenburger Allee is a popular destination for walks and bike rides. It connects urban areas with the rural charm of Wellenburg Castle and offers a green oasis for those seeking relaxation.
