LandArt: Nature as an art space LandArt uses natural materials from the environment that are left to the forces of nature and transience. In this way, works of art merge with their surroundings, become part of nature and ultimately return to it. The internationally active artist Hama Lohrmann created nine works of art in the Augsburg - Western Forests Nature Park, near 86456 Bonstetten. By damming up the Roth by 2.50 m, a water surface of 11.5 ha was created. The waterlogged marginal agricultural land was given a new purpose. The deeper parts of the lake are mainly used for swimming. Lying areas with an average width of 30 m are available over a length of 800 m. The winter-proof design of the changing rooms and toilet facilities promotes ice sports on the lake during the frosty periods. The entire water surface is used for fishing. The reed zones in the eastern part of the lake in connection with the extensive new plantings can accommodate small game and offer nesting opportunities for bird life.
