The Ellerau Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member of the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church and belongs to the Hamburg Diocese. The congregation currently has approximately 2,300 members. Even before reaching the Himmelsmoor, the landscape is swampy. From the north-east, paths lead to the moor, which are natural and mostly run over moorland. When you walk, you get a slightly drunk impression - no wonder, the ground trembles with every step! An incredibly beautiful feeling.

Visitors can explore Schleswig-Holstein's largest raised bog on a nearly four-kilometer-long nature trail. It leads over soft peat soil, through birch forests, and along a boardwalk. Information boards along the trail provide information about the extraordinary flora and fauna. At three different locations, vantage points offer a beautiful view of the moor lake and the former peat mining areas.

The Himmelmoor near Quickborn is the largest raised bog in Schleswig-Holstein and impresses with its vastness, the regenerating moor-typical diversity of life, the dense vegetation of its wooded edges, the banks of the Bilsbek.
