It is a superbly designed viewing point on the Marburger Kreisbahn cycle path overlooking the Lahn meadows. There are also a few information boards installed, simply fantastic.

This was not just any old post office robbery. Aside from all the local rhetoric... this place and this event are symbolic of the history of the "hinterland" in the 19th century. The post office robbers who survived their imprisonment were executed in Giessen on October 6, 1824. If you want to know a little more about what happened here in 1822... here you can find a brief description of the events: www.freitag.de/autoren/goetz-eisenberg/1821-postraub-in-der-subach A film by Volker Schlöndorff also describes the tragic story of the desperate farmers and servants from the hinterland who became robbers: "The sudden wealth of the poor people of Kombach" (1971)
