Aartalstausee는 1990년대에 홍수 조절을 위해 건설되었습니다. 주로 2개의 부분으로 나뉘며, 여기서는 앞쪽 저수지가 자연 보호 구역으로 사용됩니다. 따라서 물가와 물속에 서식하는 모든 새들을 위한 거대한 보호 구역이 조성되었습니다. 특히 이 호수는 헤센에서 두 번째로 큰 수역입니다.

At the various beautiful resting places in the "bird breeding and nature conservation area" there are not only large information boards with photos and descriptions of the birds, but also QR CODEs that you can scan. This means you can get additional interesting information. Simply beautifully done! Next time I'll definitely bring my binoculars so I can observe the birds even better.

The bird breeding area is located on and in the “small Aartalsee”. Here the birds can breed undisturbed or the migratory birds can stop. It's very nice that you can look at you from all sides at a sufficient distance without disturbing you.

The Lahnaue nature reserve includes wet meadows and several lakes that were created from former gravel pits. The area has developed into an important resting and transit area for waterfowl. So always stay on the path. If you keep quiet, you have a good chance of spotting some of the shy birds.

There is a circular path around the lake, wide enough for oncoming traffic, easy to drive. So you can see the lake from all directions. A part of the circular route is only permitted for pedestrians, is that meant seriously?
