트라이젠 강 하구는 오스트리아 니더외스터라이히주 트라이스마우어에 있으며, 기술과 자연이 어떻게 성공적으로 조화를 이룰 수 있는지 보여주는 매혹적인 예입니다. 이곳에서 트라이젠 강은 도나우 강과 합류하지만, 예전에는 지금처럼 목가적이지 않았습니다. 원래 트라이젠 강은 약 7.5km 상류에서 합류했습니다. 1970년대 알텐뵈르트 도나우 수력 발전소 건설로 모든 것이 바뀌었습니다. 발전소를 위해 도나우 강의 수위가 높아졌기 때문에 트라이젠 강은 더 이상 자연적으로 흐를 수 없었을 것입니다. 따라서 완전히 새로운 강바닥을 파야 했습니다.

이곳은 70개 이상의 쇼 가든을 갖춘 유럽 최초의 생태 정원 박람회입니다. 특히 나무 꼭대기 산책로는 툴너펠트(Tullnerfeld)의 멋진 전망을 감상할 수 있어 인기가 많습니다.

The LIFE+ Traisen project was one of the largest renaturation projects in Austria and was implemented between 2009 and 2019. The aim was to transform the previously straightened lower reaches of the Traisen into a near-natural floodplain landscape. This resulted in a new, meandering river course with diverse bank structures and wetlands over a length of around 9.4 kilometers. This created valuable habitats for numerous animal and plant species, including endangered species. The implementation required extensive earthworks, in which large quantities of gravel and sediment were moved to create still waters and shallow water zones. The cost of the project was around 30 million euros and was financed by various public and private partners.

The city is a paradise for cyclists, with well-developed paths leading through green oases and along the Danube. In Tulln, trees are the focus of a unique initiative that highlights their beauty, importance and ecological functions. On this section you will find signposted trees with exciting information. The garden city creates a harmonious interplay of sustainability, nature and culture. With its focus on trees as "living works of art" and its bike-friendliness, Tulln is an ideal place for nature lovers and cyclists. Good thing!
