There is much to read about this landscape, formed by erosion over 50 million years, but you simply have to see it for yourself, it is so beautiful and unique.

A unique place in France, a landscape of fairy chimneys with a fragile, ephemeral beauty. It shows the cliffs of sand and clay, patiently chiseled by the rain. Erosion has worked like an artist

Orgues offers a view of these astonishing natural structures known as "fairy chimneys." It's a unique landscape with colorful reliefs that water has sculpted in clay and sand, torn from the Pyrenees and deposited in the Tet Valley over the course of 5 million years.

a small Bryce Canyon, very manageable, but worthwhile.

These are some very beautiful gorges. Note the small medieval stone bridge that seems so fragile. Also know that the thermal spring of La Fou is very close to this magical place.

"Clinging" to the rocks, very unstable 😉 Since the path goes through it, you can't do a circular walk outside of opening hours. From the larger parking lot to the south, you can at least get to the entrance in the evening, with views into the gorge. From the north, the path ends at the end of the tunnel...

The Hermitage Saint-Antoine is a large natural basilica built from trees and rocks and above all brought to life by the sound of water and the song of birds. You will find many works of art there (frescoes, stained glass windows). Access to the site, the tower, and the museum is free.

A dolmen that is worth the detour, especially for lovers of megaliths. Other dolmens are also present around Ansignan.

beautiful chapel in the rock of the cliff. There is another car park above with a 2nd access via steps through a small tunnel

The Organs of Ille-sur-Têt are fairy chimneys located on a geological and tourist site in the town of Ille-sur-Têt, in the French department of Pyrénées-Orientales. They result from the erosion of sedimentary rocks four million years old.

Do not miss. Access to this place where the Agly flows is very easy from the road which leads to Perpignan. There you will find giant pots dug into the rock as well as a Roman bridge which has always defied all winter floods.

It's worth leaving the GR10 for this detour. The stunning scenery makes for the most beautiful views early in the morning. Therefore, a must-visit to Les Orgues. It's about a 30-minute walk from the campsite in Ille-sur-Tét to the entrance to Les Orgues. However, the town of Ille-sur-Tét lacks good accommodation options. I couldn't find anything other than the campsite and a hotel that doesn't even have a decent reception. A full tour here: https://www.komoot.de/tour/340848344?ref=itd

A great erosion landscape, often called "Bryce Canyon of Europe".
