On the occasion of the coronation of King Wilhelm I as German Emperor in the Palace of Versailles in 1871, five linden trees were planted at this spot. Three of them are still standing.

Beautiful passage along the German-French border. Traces of the trenches from World War II can still be seen. The forests were simply completely replanted after the war. This is recognizable by the many trees standing in a row.

The Gallenberg is a mountain ridge, 373 m, west of Gisingen (Wallerfangen), eastern foothills of the Paris Basin* in the Saarlouis district. From here you can see the gentle curves of the hills around Gisingen. *) The Paris Basin is a fossil sedimentary basin in northeastern France, western Belgium and southeastern England. It began to sink in the Permian (300 to 250 million years ago). Over 3,000 meters of sediment accumulate in the Paris Basin. The Paris Basin is bordered by the Ardennes and Vosges and extends into Saarland.
