The hut belongs to the Associazione Sentieri Alpini Calanca ASAC. It is below the tree line, which creates a special atmosphere. It is manned in the summer. The hut wardens stay up there for two weeks at a time and work largely on a voluntary basis.

Alpe Cermine is a panoramic terrace located between huts and woods at an altitude of 1,346 metres, at the end of the road that arrives from Gordona. From here you can enjoy wonderful views of the lower Valchiavenna, the Italian Val Bregaglia and the entrance to the Valle Spluga.

The Rifugio Pian Grand is a self serving hut along the Sentiero Calanca. There are two huts. One is with a kitchen and sleeping places, the other has only sleeping places. The kitchen is equipped with all essentials and gas. 100m from the hut there is a water pipe. The toilet is 50m away and has no door but a beautiful panorama. You need to make a reservation for the hut at www.sentiero-calanca.ch

Baitusch is a group of huts that can be reached from Isola, first along a paved road up to Cà Raseri and then via a dirt road, or via paths from both Isola and Starleggia and Pian dei Cavalli. It enjoys a beautiful view and is close to a plain where you can stop to relax, have fun or simply have a picnic with friends! It is also possible, at certain times of the year, to buy cheese, butter and other dairy products directly on the alp! It's a nice crossroads to pass through if you want to take a nice ride around Pian dei Cavalli
