The Pas de Roland is a gorge carved by the Nive River near Itxassou in Labourd. Located at the bottom of the gorge, the path runs alongside beautiful cliffs in a remarkable mineral setting. The road follows the river, through the Basque hinterland, in a pleasant and bucolic atmosphere.

Celtic circle halfway between Itxassou and the summit of the civil radar. Convenient parking to park and admire the view either of the Spanish Pyrenees or the French coast.

Be careful, access to Pas de Roland (to the rock) may be prohibited (as in summer 2022) but does not prevent you from seeing it from the road.

The Iguzki peaks at 845 meters above sea level. This grassy peak is on the Franco-Spanish border very close to its larger neighbour: Artzemendi.

Culminating at 749 meters, the Mondarrain is an iconic summit of the Basque Country. Its particular shape makes it easy to distinguish. The “mount of eagles” in Basque offers a magnificent view of the surroundings, including its neighbour, Artzamendi. Its ascent is easy with a last rocky part which makes it a nice climbing spot.

Right on the France-Spain border is this marvelous site at 710 meters above sea level in the heart of the Pyrenees. A few meters away is a center with archaeological and megalithic remains. An ideal place to take a break and enjoy the beautiful landscape that surrounds it.
