A breathtaking scenery with snow in midsummer. The highest point is the Fantesteinen. In midsummer (late June), you can even still see cross-country skiers – so it's still very cool to cold.

A really beautiful route with breathtaking views. It is advisable to consider the wind beforehand. The route is very exposed and can be quite unpleasant and even dangerous in strong winds. Apart from that, however, it is an unreserved recommendation.

The climb from Sognefjorden up to Sognefjellet at 1,400 meters elevation is amazing and tough. Make sure to check the weather forecast as it can be quite different at the top than in by the fjord.

We actually wanted to go up Oldeskaret but I think we only made half ... It was very warm and unfortunately a bit broken. The weather did not look trusting even with big clouds. Next time it will work 🤔😁. Big advantage of this way is that you do not get into the extreme cruise tourist groups that are carted by bus to the glacier.

Fantesteinen (1434 meters above sea level). This is the exact name of the pass height of the highest pass road in Northern Europe. The RV 55 leads over the Sognefjell and represents the connection from inland Lom to the towns on the Sognefjord. The Sognefjell pass road is one of the most popular tourist roads in Norway and is visited by thousands of tourists during the open summer season. The pass road remains closed in winter.
