Bad Rehburg's tear pond is said to have grown to its current size in 1840. When the spa administration tried to build a "cold water facility" in 1840 because the flow of the healing spring was decreasing, the already planned plan was rejected by the Ministry of the Interior because no funds were available. The tears that the community leaders shed at that time filled the small pond that already existed.
