This is a very good connection road for RR from south to north. One bypasses the corrosive coastal road. Mostly good asphalt. Wonderful views. Gradient mostly under 10%.

From just after Monastiraki to just before Thripti it is really a trail, not a road. Beautiful views of mountains, sea and gorge.

Nice little road over the mountains from "coast to coast". I drove from Agios Nikolaos to Ierapetra with a slight modification. More traffic near the coast. It was very lonely and quiet in the mountains.

Scenic and sporty challenging road bike route from the south coast of Crete to the north coast. At least in the spring little traffic on consistently very tidy road.
