The gorge is approximately 1.5 km long and between three and ten meters wide, only reaching greater widths in a few places. The rock walls reach a height of about 150 m. The Kriopotamos River flows through the gorge, its water level varying throughout the year due to wet winters and dry summers.

The Sarakina Gorge is an adventurous and picturesque gorge in southeastern Crete, near the village of Mithi, about 15 kilometers west of Ierapetra. With a length of approximately 1.5 kilometers and walls rising up to 150 meters high, the gorge offers an impressive natural landscape.

A lovely stop on a hike – the tree is located just above Kavousi and can be reached in about 20-30 minutes, depending on the route and walking pace. Impressive trunk girth 😳 and an incredible age.

The path to the waterfall is really varied, there is no other way to put it. For those who are physically fit enough and ideally wear sturdy shoes, this section with the rope is a real highlight.
