Charming mountain hut in the Maderanertal at 2032 m altitude.

The Windgällenhütte, located at 2,032 m in the picturesque Maderanertal, offers 60 beds in nine bright rooms, each with 4-15 beds equipped with Nordic blankets and pillows. The facility is open from the beginning of June to mid-October, while in the winter period there is a winter room with 8 beds, accessible by telephone reservation. The privileged location of the hut makes it an ideal starting point for alpine hikes and climbing in the region. Info at this link: https://www.windgaellenhuette.ch

A lovely place to take a family break. It's a shame that it's closed until December, so don't consider it for a drink or a meal.

Since I was on the Chaiserstock for the first time in 2022, they have significantly defused the two "key points" (at the couloir up to the Chaisertor there are now iron steps and the point at the top with the chain where you have to hoist yourself up with a lot of strength is now also additionally secured with iron steps and a rope 👍) . Of course, the path remains airy and scrambling, but is wonderfully secured with a rope. I've seen those who have secured themselves with a via ferrata set, of course it's also possible, but not necessary. A head for heights and sure-footedness is of course a must, the path remains a T4+ and is a wonderful climbing path for experienced hikers with a great panorama from the summit 😍😄👌
