Beautiful alpine lake worth visiting.

Magnificent site: the lake of Saint-Guérin is worth the detour. It is a starting point for several day hikes: the lakes of the Tempête via the col de la Louze, towards the lake of the Fairies.

Lac de Saint-Guérin was built in 1961 as part of a hydroelectric complex, which also includes nearby Lac de Roselend and Lac de la Gittaz. The car parking around the north-western edge of the lake is a great place to access many different trail running Tours in the area. There's a buvette selling drinks and snacks between June and September and also a public toilet on the lake shore.

The Himalayan suspension footbridge that crosses the gorge at the southeastern tip of Lac de Saint-Guérin is a truly spectacular site. Spanning the turquoise waters of the lake between its rocky edges, it allows access to the southern end of the lake and the trails up towards Cuvy and the Grand Mont. The bridge is constructed from steel grids, so you can see between your feet down to the sunken trees and rocks beneath the water. These are remnants of a former valley flooded to create a reservoir to provide hydroelectric power.

The western shore of Lac Saint Guérin is officially off-limits for the public. Rule flouted daily.
