The unique Malberg Palace complex consists of the so-called New House, the Old House, the arcade building, the brewery, and the chapel. The "Iron Garden" and the "Round Garden" also belong to the palace, which is situated on a mountain spur. Malberg Palace dates back to a castle mentioned as early as 1008. Nothing of the medieval building remains. In 1681, the Veyder family took over the castle and, from 1708 to 1715, had it expanded into a palace in the Venetian Baroque style by Matteo Alberti, an architect from Venice. The impressive buildings feature stucco ceilings and wood paneling, as well as tapestries and antique furniture. A unique feature is a painted wall covering depicting hunting scenes. The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the parish church took place on May 19, 1905, and the solemn blessing took place on October 1 of the following year. The church was ready for occupancy and use. It is dedicated to St. Quirinus, first of all, and to Sts. Firminus and Ferredus. The feast of the church's patron saint is celebrated on the first Sunday in May. Due to the sharp drop in prices, hop cultivation around Kyllburg was stopped at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, the hop terraces are largely dilapidated and overgrown. In the immediate vicinity of the old hop terraces we find a weather shelter that offers us welcome shelter in the event of an unexpected rain shower.

In 1870 the 218 m long tunnel was built. The sandstone masonry with side towers and battlements is reminiscent of a castle. The coat of arms with the letters "R" and "E" stand for Rhenish Railway Company. Many backward motifs on Malberg accompany us as we leave the place. Cross the earth-brown churned up Kyll, the Jewish cemetery and we're already climbing uphill from 270 meters to the Wilsecker plateau, which is over 400 meters high.

"Towards the end, a seemingly endless meadow path awaits us, which leads straight down. Downward. Further down. Only when we realize that we were at an altitude of 550 meters near Weißenseifen, but Malberg is at 300 meters, do we calm down; the path does not lead straight into the underworld. Nevertheless, it is impressive how long we walk downhill to then arrive at the castle at the top of the village. And climb further down into the steep place. Malberg then a small Eifel pearl. “The town center and Malberg Castle are listed as a monument zone. In addition, the list of cultural monuments shows 36 individual monuments, including the baroque palace complex on a ridge surrounded by the Kyll (and) the Catholic parish church of St. Quirin [...]."
