At the intersection of the Twentseweg, the Regge and the Molenbeek lies the castle grounds of Ter Molen. Later the manor Schuilenburg was created here. The old Twentseweg forms an important connection between Twente and Salland. Schuilenburg has influenced the region for many centuries and, according to tradition, may even have controlled it. The "Sprengenberg" is a house on the hill of Sprengenberg near Haarle, municipality of Hellendoorn, built in 1898-1910 by order of A.A.W. van Wulfften Palthe (1851-1929). The house is often called Palthetoren in Salland. The house is not open to the public. The associated property De Sprengenberg is a nature reserve managed by Natural Monuments and is part of the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park, it is freely accessible - partially closed from March 15th to July 15th or sometimes a little earlier, as a breeding area. Palthe lived in Almelo and owned the land around the hill, where he hunted regularly. In 1898 he had an octagonal country house built where people could relax from hunting and possibly stay overnight with a few people. In 1903 he had the architect Karel Müller design an extension: the tower and the immediately adjacent one to the east and west. In 1907, the architect A.K. Build a small, semi-underground hunting lodge/belvedere made of concrete - popularly called a wine cellar - a wine cellar - 6 or t. a> – on the Grote Koningsbelt. It was destroyed by the war. Palthe, who founded the company with two of his brothers. Gebr. Palthe [Almelo], who founded the Verwerij and Printing Company of Silk, Woolen and Cotton Fabrics and Yarns, was very interested in the latest techniques and used them in the country house. The house was completely self-sufficient with its own well and a rose mill or wind machine built in Dresden to generate electricity - initially one with 18 blades, later a larger one with 24 blades. The house also included a chamber with a bathhouse. This building still exists, it is called a witch's house by the residents of nearby Haarle After Palthe's death in 1929, his unmarried daughter, Maria Aurelia (Mieke) van Wulfften Palthe, lived there until her death in 1961< a i=2> (incorrectly copied in many places as 1962, but the grave monument and associated papers give to: 1961). Het Laer estate is located in a wooded area near Ommen. This used to be a castle. The canals are still visible in the landscape. Nowadays the estate is a manor where all kinds of activities are organized.

Although today it is nice to stay at this beautiful location where all kinds of activities are organized, things were different over the centuries. Wars have been fought here in several centuries and the castle has suffered a lot. You wouldn't think so, as charming and peaceful as it is now.
