Whoever has hardly any money, lives like this It's hard to imagine, but that's how the poorest of the poor live at the start of the 20th century. It is really no more than a big hole with a roof on it. The walls consist of stacked heathland pegs and the roof is made of pine trunks and slats with sods. People without a permanent job, day laborers and poorly paid peat workers cannot afford better. If there is no work at all, the whole family has to get started - making brooms from heath or pebbles to crush the stones for the pavement of roads. There is a vegetable garden and a few have a goat. The cabins are rapidly falling into disrepair and need to be repaired regularly. In short, the circumstances are bad, and the bottle is often grabbed to make life easier.
