The Luosto consists of several peaks and together with the Pyhätunturi fell, which adjoins to the south-east, forms a 35-kilometre-long mountain range that clearly stands out from the flat surroundings. The highest peak of Luosto is called Ukko-Luosto. It can be reached via a staircase with 670 steps. Formed two billion years ago, Luosto is hard quartzite that has resisted erosion and been eroded into a rounded fell by Ice Age glaciers. (Wikipedia)
