Café Kruse in Salzwedel is an ideal destination for a stopover on your bike. Since 1842, the famous original Salzwedel Baumkuchen has been baked layer by layer over an open flame in the traditional way. In the glass-fronted bakery, you can even watch the bakers at work before enjoying a piece of the specialty in the cozy café – whether classic fondant or covered in fine chocolate. After a bike ride through the Altmark region, this visit is a particularly sweet stopover that perfectly combines indulgence and regional culture.

Fieldstone church with a recessed choir and semicircular apse from the 12th century. The west tower has a gable roof. Inside, a floating baptismal angel from the 18th century.

This observation tower is hidden in the forest. On the way, I only saw a small sign. Unfortunately, it's only open on certain days of the year. There's a sign in front of the tower with this information. There's also a phone number where you can schedule an additional viewing. Besides, the Bismarck Tower looks great. The route up there is quite easy, and you don't have to accelerate much.
