The climb to the Castello is worth it. You will be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view.

The hiking trail from the parking lot at the foot of the Castillo is easy to walk and mostly goes up on the road. No particular difficulties await the hiker, but there are fantastic views over the Monfragüe Nature Park. Don't forget your binoculars so you can get a good look at the many vultures, eagles and black storks. The Castillo itself is rather uninteresting.

Mirabel Castle was built in the 15th century on Cerro del Acero, which is why it is also known as the Peña del Acero castle. It is currently very deteriorated and only a few vestiges can be seen, such as a large brick vault and some walls.

Monfragüe Castle was built by Muslim rulers during their occupation of the area, the castle dominates the landscape and watches out for anyone trying to pass through the narrow river gorge. From one of the remaining towers you will have incredible views of the Monfragüe National Park below.
