The Paseo del Jerte in Plasencia is a charming river route that follows the course of the Jerte River. The route is approximately 13.8 km long and is ideal for walks and bike rides.

The Parque de la Isla in Plasencia is one of the main green lungs of the city and a perfect place to enjoy nature. Located in the urban section of the Jerte River, the park is a river island that stretches for almost 4 kilometers.

It's a bit of a steep climb, but the view is so beautiful

My hiking suggestion in the Monfragüe National Park: I start at the village of Villarreal de San Carlos and take the main path to the mountain Cerro Gimio. Here I enjoy the breathtaking view. We then continue along the lower path back to the village. Gnarled holm oaks line the path and I always enjoy the wonderful hilly and strangely gnarled landscape. Alternatively, you can walk along one of the narrow paths along the river. Unfortunately, they were closed when I visited. This was an old railway line that has now been made into a green, beautiful and quiet road. Surrounded by dehesa forests typical of this area of Extremadura.

Beautiful path that follows the Río Jerte in its northern exit from the city of Plasencia. You can see the hydroelectric plant at this point on the same river.

This is a piece of the Vía Verde that leaves the city of Plasencia and follows the Río Jerte in a northerly direction. At this point we find an iron bridge that helps to cross the same river with precise views of the gorge.

From here, you can see the Jerte reservoir nestled between the Gordo and Camocho mountains. The views are immense.
