Socovos Castle, also known as Encomienda Castle, is a historical jewel that stands in the Sierra de Moratalla. It is located on the outskirts of the current town of Socovos, on a rock that overlooks the old town and next to the Old Church. Inside, the remains of the church, the keep, the cistern to collect rainwater and even a dungeon are preserved. Originally, the population was located on this elevation, but after the border danger receded, it moved to the valley.

The castle dates back to the 13th century and was built by Muslims. Today, it is in a state of ruin but it was designated as an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1985 and can be visited.

The first time one finds oneself in front of the imposing Castle of Caravaca de la Cruz, one has the sensation of being dreaming. Legends of conquerors emerge from its infinite towers. The walls stretch out defying the horizon in a perfect rectangle of stone. During the day the sun illuminates a large part of its secrets. When night falls, its recesses are filled with magic.

The castle of Moratalla is built on a hill where there were settlements since the Neolithic. It was the Muslims in the 9th century who built the complex that is seen today. Later, in the 15th century, the Homage Tower was built. Along with the other five towers, this castle was a key point in the defense of Al-Andalus.

The Templars tower is currently a nature interpretation center. It is believed that the tower was built on top of an older one, and although its origin is somewhat unclear, its construction is attributed to the 16th and 17th centuries. It can be visited between 10:00 and 14:30 from Monday to Friday, and between 10:30 and 14:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

The main photo is actually the SANTUARIO DE LA VERA CRUZ from the 17-18C which is inside the fortress. It supposedly contains a relic of the True Cross.

This fortress from the Islamic era is a spectacular place where you can find curious architectural remains. One of them are the famous medieval cisterns in the area.
