The castle of Moratalla is built on a hill where there were settlements since the Neolithic. It was the Muslims in the 9th century who built the complex that is seen today. Later, in the 15th century, the Homage Tower was built. Along with the other five towers, this castle was a key point in the defense of Al-Andalus.

Moratalla is the twelfth largest municipality in Spain and therefore includes a large number of districts. Among them, Calar de la Santa stands out, where the largest group of cave paintings in Murcia can be found, and Záen de Arriba, home to the Zaén caves.

Passage area for many road cyclists who are encouraged to go up to Los Álamos and the lavender fields. This monument was built on the outskirts of the town of Moratalla and it is a religious symbol that symbolizes the arrival of the Virgin and the Lord on the pilgrimage.

In this place, located about 7 km from the town of Moratalla and on the slopes of Pico de los Frailes, it is said that the "appearance" of Jesus Christ took place in 1493.
