Asphalt forest track to the Bonicaparra refuge. A very nice climb, especially recommended in autumn when the beech forest is bursting with colour.

"Peña El Collao" is the name of a refuge that is located on an esplanade in the border area between San Millán de la Cogolla, Lugar del Río and Estollo. It can be accessed both on foot and by car through a track, in which there is a beautiful area where the Cárdenas river even makes a small waterfall. It is a beautiful place to get lost or spend a good day on a Sunday with friends.

This refuge is located at the end of the paved track that goes up the Cárdenas river valley from San Millán de la Cogolla. The shelter has two rooms, one of them having a fireplace and a table. It is a usual starting point for the ascent to the San Lorenzo peak, summit of the Sierra de la Demanda and the highest point in La Rioja.

It is a hunting refuge located at the end of the paved track that goes up the valley of the Cárdenas River in San Millán de la Cogolla. It has two rooms, one of which has a fireplace and table. Open shelter, with easy access, in the Bonicaparra area, a former village of which no remains remain. The shelter is quite neglected, but at least it can serve as shelter. Fountain, grills and tables complete the recreational area. As of June 2024, reconditioned and improved. Let's see if we can keep it like this, please..!!!!
