We were there on 9/20/24 and the bridge had already been dismantled. Since the huts are only inhabited until the end of August/mid-September, the crossing is dismantled over the winter. The river has a strong current at this time and is relatively deep! It is possible, but risky ;) We didn't have time to go around the outside as the sun was already setting. The landscape behind the village on the other side is also very swampy! But we won't forget the bridgeless crossing so quickly ;)

Between the road and the river, at the junction to Grimsdalshytta, there is a free campsite with toilet and seating. A water tap is not available. Impressive place where several hiking trails cross.

Grimsdalen is very easy to cycle from Folldal. Only moderate gradients (except for the steep final climb), beautifully quiet valley. Various tent pitches, some with toilets, are signposted. Beautiful!

…. Definitely worth seeing very close to the Peer Gynt Hütte!

A tumultuous torrent flows from the Fremre Illmannstjern to throw itself a little further down into the river which escapes from Lake Lonin. A small wooden bridge allows its crossing.

Here you can see the roaring water flowing through the crevice in the rock.

Unfortunately, the bridge is no longer there. As a result, the crossing is not possible without wet feet. The water is quite deep there.
