Heidalsmuen is a broad-backed, 1,745-metre mountain that sits between the Jotunheimen and Rondane mountains. It is a great hike, stiff but very rewarding, as there are fine panoramic views from the top towards Saukampen in the east and Refjellet to the west.

Rondvassbu is the DNT cabin in the very heart of the Rondane National Park and is deservedly popular. Originally built in 1903, the facility has seen many renovations in its time and provides unrivalled access to Rondane’s major peaks and trails. If you plan to camp nearby, you can still pay for the use of the facilities and purchase food.

Vinjeronden is one of Rondane's ten 2,000-metre peaks, standing proud at 2,046 metres (6,713 ft). It's the impressive southern neighbour of Rondslottet, the highest in the range and is connected by a high ridge. The route to Rondslottet from Rondvassbu passes over the summit. Interestingly, it's also the meeting point of the Dovre, Folldal, and Sel municipalities.

Rondslottet is the highest peak in the Rondane range at 2,178 metres (7,146 ft). It's the crowning point of a rugged and complex massif that along contains neighbouring Storronden. The peak is usually either climbed from Rondvassbu to the south-west via Rondholet and Vinjeronden, or from Bjørnhollia to the south-east via Langglupdalen.

There are swamps and moors everywhere. Every now and then, you'll even get wet feet.

At this trail junction, you've got the option of heading left towards Rondane's highest summit, Rondeslottet, or right towards Storronden, the second highest in the national park. Whatever you choose, you'll have a great experience among magnificent mountains.
