The road through Drivdalen follows the River Driva as it cuts between steep valley walls, with waterfalls tumbling down the cliffs on both sides. It’s a scenic stretch where the river, mountains, and cascades combine for a classic Norwegian valley ride.

Illmanndalen is a stunning mountain valley that runs along the south of the main Rondane massif. It can be used to link the popular DNT cabins at Bjørnhollia and Rondvassbu. The trail shadows the northern banks of the beautiful Illmannåe.

Between the road and the river, at the junction to Grimsdalshytta, there is a free campsite with toilet and seating. A water tap is not available. Impressive place where several hiking trails cross.

Despite the traffic, The Valley is worth the drive

Grimsdalen is very easy to cycle from Folldal. Only moderate gradients (except for the steep final climb), beautifully quiet valley. Various tent pitches, some with toilets, are signposted. Beautiful!

A tumultuous torrent flows from the Fremre Illmannstjern to throw itself a little further down into the river which escapes from Lake Lonin. A small wooden bridge allows its crossing.

Langlupdalen is located in Atnsjømyrene Nature Reserve.
