Rondvassbu is the DNT cabin in the very heart of the Rondane National Park and is deservedly popular. Originally built in 1903, the facility has seen many renovations in its time and provides unrivalled access to Rondane’s major peaks and trails. If you plan to camp nearby, you can still pay for the use of the facilities and purchase food.

As the Kongevegen (King's Road) makes its way across Hjerkinnshøe, at the high point here is a stone marker indicating 208 kilometres (129 mi) to Nidaros, Trondheim's medieval name. The high ground here provides exceptional views across the wilds of Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park.

Rondslottet is the highest peak in the Rondane range at 2,178 metres (7,146 ft). It's the crowning point of a rugged and complex massif that along contains neighbouring Storronden. The peak is usually either climbed from Rondvassbu to the south-west via Rondholet and Vinjeronden, or from Bjørnhollia to the south-east via Langglupdalen.

The border between Innlandet and Trøndelag. The name alludes to an honary portal that was built here in the 19th century for royal visits.

At this trail junction, you've got the option of heading left towards Rondane's highest summit, Rondeslottet, or right towards Storronden, the second highest in the national park. Whatever you choose, you'll have a great experience among magnificent mountains.

A mighty 7,014 foot (2,138 m) summit, Storronden is a great objective from the Rondvassbu DNT cabin. It rises to the south of Rondeslottet and the two can be linked via a col.

Vinjeronden is a spectacular summit that make tackle on the way to Rondeslottet, the highest mountain in Rondane National Park. It's a challenging 8-mile run from the Rondvassbu DNT cabin to Rondeslottet and twice as far from the parking at Spranget.

At 7,146 feet (2,178 m), Rondeslottet is the highest summit in Rondane National Park. It's name translates as 'the Castle of Rondane'. The summit makes for a great adventure run from the nearby Rondvassbu DNT hut.
