The Holzwarche nature reserve is part of the High Fens-Eifel Nature Park. It is considered one of the last and most important refuges of the wild daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) in West-Central Europe. The valley's landscape is characterized by damp meadows, streams, and light woodlands, providing ideal conditions for a diverse array of spring flowers. Especially in April, millions of wild daffodils transform the meadows into a vibrant sea of yellow blossoms – a spectacular natural phenomenon.

Here, the Warche River carves deep into the Ardennes rock, creating a series of natural rapids and small waterfalls. The river's power is particularly evident between Bevercé and Bellevaux, with swirling waters swirling between dark rocks and forests teeming with moss and ferns.

Theoretically, you could even walk across the river today, as there was only a little water. The bridge has no railing and some wooden beams are missing, but you can still get across easily ;)

The Holzwarche River rises at an elevation of 660 meters near the small village of Losheimergraben, directly on the German-Belgian border, then flows northwestward and empties into the Bütgenbach reservoir. Its entire course has been preserved in a relatively natural state. With the help of European funding and private donations, as well as land purchases, a protected area has been created here since 1978. Today, it covers approximately 80 hectares and is a showcase project of the Natagora/BNVS (BNVS stands for Belgian Nature and Bird Protection Areas), home to an extremely diverse range of flora and fauna.
