The cave has long been known by two names: Zadlaška jama cave (named after the nearby village of Zadlaz) or Dante's cave (named after the famous Italian poet Danter Alighieri). It is 1,140 m long and 41 m deep. The cave was first explored in 1911 by the Slovenian expat society Società Alpina Friulana. Further explorations were made in 1922 by members of the mountaineering club Planinski klub Krpelj and in 1977 by the cave department of the Tolmin Alpine Club. The cave is home to the endemic beetle species Anophthalmus tolminensis and is also a wintering area for two bat species, Rhinklafus hipposideros and Rhinklafus ferrumequinum.

The Pokljuška Soteska is a wild dry gorge that is absolutely worth seeing. It is not advertised for tourism and is therefore more likely to be visited by locals. That's why it's not developed as well as you know it from a tourist gorge and the paths are wild. Fallen trees remain. It is in Triglav National Park. There is an easily accessible cave in the gorge. The car park is accessed via a single lane narrow road. The gorge and the parking lot are free. There is a path that leads into the gorge, after almost a kilometer you have the option of choosing a short or long path. We found the wild nature with the gallery, the tranquility, the cave, the route and the rock faces absolutely worth seeing and can only make a recommendation.
