The owner, whose company handled billing for doctors' practices nationwide, was facing a prison sentence for fraud in several cases. He had apparently collected the money from patients, but had not passed it on to the doctors' practices, but had instead taken money from the trust fund - in order to save his company, which had got into financial difficulties, as he later said in court. So he left everything behind and fled to Brazil. There he was caught and extradited to Germany. He was convicted of fraud in 2001. His initials on the door handles and his self-created family coat of arms above the entrance door are still a reminder of him. The magnificent property has been empty since the castle owner fled and is gradually falling into disrepair.

The castle in Trevesenhammer has been an iron hammer since the 14th century, as the name suggests. Powered by the water of the Fichtelnaab, the hammer mill became a castle over time. The castle is a simple classicist building that was built after 1800. The building has three floors and two protruding side wings on the street side. At the back there are two round towers with onion domes.
