Eutin Castle in Eutin, East Holstein, is the cultural center and nucleus of the town. Along with Gottorf Castle and Glücksburg Castle, it is one of the most important secular court buildings in Schleswig-Holstein. The four-winged complex originated from a medieval castle and was expanded into a royal residence over several centuries.

The buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) usually blooms pure white in nature, but occasionally has petals with a slight pink tinge. The flowering period extends from March to May, but in mild regions, the wood anemone opens its blossoms as early as February.

This lake also offers great opportunities for anglers. You can catch eels, perch, bream, pike, tench, zander, carp, roach, whitefish, and vendace. Fishing is permitted from the shore and from boats. The Great Eutin Lake lies northeast of the town of Eutin. It covers 230 hectares and has a maximum depth of 17 meters. Spread along the lake's shores are Eutin Castle and its gardens, the open-air stage, which hosts concerts and theater performances in the summer, the lakeside promenade with access to Eutin's town center, and the lakeside park with a playground. The western part of the lake is separated by the Bebensund Bridge, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the lake and the historic bathing establishment. The Schwentine River flows into and out of the western part of the lake. Furthermore, Lake Eutin contains two islands: Pheasant Island and Love Island. The Pheasant Island is the origin of Eutin's settlement; today, the island is privately owned and not open to the public. An 8.9 km hiking trail invites you to circumnavigate the Great Eutin Lake. After crossing the Seeschaar Forest, the trail mostly follows the shore.

Rental and sale of kayaks and Canadian canoes. Boats and accessories are also available for purchase. Boats Keusen, located in the Eutin district of Fissau, is just 130 m from the water hiking car park at the start of the Schwentine water hiking trail. Here you can not only rent kayaks and Canadian canoes, but also buy your own boats - the range includes kayaks, Canadian canoes, pedal boats, SUPs and fishing boats. For a fee, transport and collection of the rented canoes can be arranged.

With over 200 lakes, Holstein Switzerland is an ideal fishing area for amateur and professional anglers. Crystal-clear water, high oxygen levels and constant monitoring ensure a particularly rich fish population and a fantastic fishing experience. Eels, perch, bream, pike-perch and a number of other fish species can be found in the waters. The most interesting lake inhabitants include the silver and noble whitefish, which are now rarely found in many German waters, but are still particularly numerous in Lake Plön. They were settled in Holstein Switzerland around Malente by Cistercian monks in the 17th century.
