The trip around the Kellersee is worthwhile in every season

There are many things to see and discover along the banks of the Kellersee if you follow the approximately 16 km long circular path. The winding paths lead you through partially untouched nature and allow you to experience the landscape of Holstein Switzerland up close. The WunderWeltWasser nature trail is particularly recommended for families with children, where little adventurers can learn a lot of interesting facts about the wet element in a playful way. On the Malenter banks of the Kellersee is also the Rothensande estate, which is known to many film fans as the original setting of the popular Immenhof films from the 1950s.

There are various ways to explore the Kellersee. At Boote Keusen in Eutin-Fissau you have the opportunity to rent canoes and explore the lake. You can also follow the further course of the Schwentine and paddle to Dieksee. Thanks to the size of the Kellersee, sailing is also possible, especially for members of the Malente-Gremsmühlen sailing club. Anglers with the appropriate permit can cast their line in the Kellersee after paying the fishing fee. Swimming is also possible in the Kellersee. The bathing area in Wöbbensredder in Malente is particularly suitable for holidaymakers with children. If you prefer it quiet and are an experienced swimmer, you can visit the Hamburg beach in Sielbeck, which can only be reached on foot, by bike or by boat.

The Kellersee, which is located on the eastern edge of Malenter town centre, offers a variety of leisure activities for holidaymakers who want to spend their holidays at the lake. Both leisurely and sporting activities can be enjoyed both on the shore and on the water of the Kellersee. The lake is fed by the Schwentine, the Malenter Au and the Aue from the Ukleisee. As the second largest lake in the Holstein Lake District, the Kellersee also borders the residential town of Eutin to the south and east, which is worth a visit with its impressive castle and historic town centre. Away from the city, you can enjoy the region's extraordinary landscape and take undisturbed walks through nature.

When I first arrived at Kellersee in Malente, I was overwhelmed by its beauty. The clear water and the surrounding forests were simply breathtaking, and I couldn't wait to get out on the water with my SUP board. I slowly paddled across the lake, enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and listening to the birds singing. I saw ducks leisurely gliding across the water and fishes passing below me. The sun shone on my face, and I felt free and happy. A group of people on a boat waved at me and seemed to be having a good time. I eventually returned to the shore, feeling like part of a larger community of lake enthusiasts. Although I was exhausted, I was happy and content. Stand-up paddling on Kellersee in Malente was an unforgettable experience that I will never forget.
