The 25 hectare area is to be transformed into a flood landscape for three million euros. This is intended to compensate for the large-scale sealing of the Borgfeld-Ost and West construction areas, the construction of a section of the 281 motorway, the replacement of the Wümme bridge, the connection to the Lilienthal relief road and the construction of tram line 4 to the Falkenberger Kreuz.[Weser- courier on 06/15/2020]

The small detour from the dike along the compensation area is definitely worth it. Especially in the morning hours, there is animal activity on the water surface. The path leads around the newly created compensation area and is easy to walk and drive on. There are enough seats from which you can watch the many different bird species. When the compensation area was laid out with heavy construction equipment, I was very skeptical about what that would bring. Ultimately, however, a beautiful natural oasis was created!
