If you're hiking the Thiemsburg circular trail, we recommend this short but worthwhile detour to the Düsteröder Pond. It's an idyllic spot for a break, and the pond is home to numerous amphibians for observation.

The area natural monument "Viole-Teiche bei Goldbach" is located south of Goldbach between Krahnberg and Steinberg. The area is part of the designated FFH area (Fauna-Flora-Habitat area) "Krahnberg-Kriegberg". The two small bodies of water, called Seeteich and Krötenteich, formed by subsidence or sinkholes, are fed exclusively by precipitation - so-called sky ponds. The water level fluctuates according to the amount of precipitation.
