The area of today's "Neun Brunnen", located south of the town of Heiligenstadt in the Pferdebach valley, was first documented in 1634. It got its name from the nine springs (Neun Börner). The area is still rich in springs today, although the exact number is not known. As early as the 19th century, the area of the "Neun Brunnen" was a popular destination for Heiligenstadt families. People would meet up in company and have picnics. People could make their own coffee to accompany their meals. Gastronomy has been in operation since around 1880.

The approximately 13 hectare reservoir "Glockengraben Teistungen" is 1 km east of Teistungen. It was completed in 1986 as a service water reservoir for agriculture.
