The text author Norbert Kaiser wrote the following accompanying text, which appeared on the LP cover: "Before the Swan King goes on your journey, a few accompanying notes on some songs from this third KARAT-LP, which was recorded after a turbulent touring season in January 1980 . Greek and Northern European mythology is the motif of the singing swan; it was used in all forms of art in changing forms and statements. The title song, which combines elements of the ballad and the folk song, was inspired by a fable of Leonardo da Vinci.
