The Fohlenplackener Hut is a popular destination for hikers, nature lovers, and cyclists. At an elevation of approximately 440 meters, it offers wonderful views over the vast forests of the Solling region and invites you to take a relaxing break amidst untouched nature. The hut is located on the Fohlenplacken Meadow, a historic clearing that likely got its name from the foals that once grazed there. Today, it is an important point in the Solling-Vogler Nature Park's network of hiking trails. The Hochsolling Circular Trail, which passes directly by the Fohlenplackener Hut, is particularly popular. The refuge itself is quaint and cozy—a classic example of the region's rustic architecture. It serves hikers as shelter from the elements, a rest stop, and a meeting place. There's also a barbecue and picnic area nearby, ideal for groups and families.

The idea for the hut was born in 1984. After a village festival on the grounds of the former Noack sawmill, the surplus was to be used for a worthy purpose. The majority opted for accommodation for communal gatherings in a suitable public space. After negotiations with Neuhausen's mayor, Friedrich Schwerdtfeger, forestry director Dr. Förster, and district manager Langer, the hut was inaugurated in 1986. During the cherry blossom season, the landscape of Rühler Schweiz between Golmbach and Rühle is a nationally renowned tourist destination: The mountain slopes are dotted with the brilliant white of blossoming cherry trees. Against the fresh blue of the spring sky, amateur and professional photographers find perfect postcard motifs. But it's worth taking a closer look: The charming landscape conceals a treasure. You'll find not just cherries here, but many different types of cherries. The variety of varieties in Rühler Schweiz is unique in Germany. Closer investigations have revealed almost 50 different varieties, including some cherry varieties thought to be lost. The two cherry discovery tours and the short "regional delight" quality trail lead on routes of varying lengths through the old cherry orchards and the unique cultural landscape near Golmbach. A nice spot to linger

Stamp station 10 of the Wild Homeland Hiking Treasures. The circular trails offer many beautiful photo opportunities. The treehouse is a really great idea!
