The lake is very shallow and is a nature reserve due to the flora and fauna of national importance. The western shore is wooded and very swampy. There are two smaller islands in the lake. On the western island you can still find the remains of an earlier building. The Santower See is a medium-sized lake with 102.00 ha. At its deepest point it is approx. 3.5 m deep. The body of water contains fish species such as eel, perch, grass carp and roach.
