There are two piers here, one for the Ratzeburger and one for the Wakenitz shipping. You can go by boat from Ratzeburg to Lübeck with a change.

The old town of Ratzeburg is located on an island, only connected to the mainland by dams, surrounded by four lakes: Küchensee, Stadtsee, Domsee and the large Ratzeburg Lake. The unusual location makes the city an ideal destination for water sports enthusiasts. Anyone who is more interested in culture and history will find numerous historical buildings in Ratzeburg from the more than 950-year history of the episcopal city. In 1154, Henry the Lion founded the diocese of Ratzeburg, and in the same year the foundation stone for the cathedral was laid, which, along with the lakes, still shapes the cityscape of Ratzeburg today.
