In the north and south, the lake has its tributaries through ditches from the surrounding fields. The maximum range of the Small Lake is about 770 by 360 meters. The area around the lake and the lake itself are designated as FFH area. The lake is also intended for fishing and is home to species such as roach, bream, silver bream, perch, tench, wolfdog, pike and eel. Kleiner Kutzowsee is located directly south-west of Großer Kutzowsee.
