On October 1, 2024, exactly 126 years will have passed since Hohenbocka Castle was first occupied, according to the local chronicle. The building, which characterizes the townscape, was built in 1897/1898 in place of an old manor house.

This impressive Renaissance complex was built in the 16th century on the foundations of a medieval castle to secure the Saxon border. Today it is Germany's only preserved fortification surrounded by such a mighty earthen wall. On the tour of the fortress you will discover secret passages, the powder tower and a cleverly planned fortress portal that was not so easy to conquer. In the castle, exciting exhibitions invite you to take a journey through time through the history of the city, country and industry in Senftenberg and Lusatia. Beautiful little castle with park.

Together with the stables of the former castle, the chapel survived the destructive rampage of those in power in 1948. The castle was blown up.
